There had been important talking about the new proposed Premium Content Protection from Microsoft. I particularly enjoyed Phil Dorren's article, entitled Looking for a Win/Win Solution to the War Between "Premium Content" and Digital Freedom, and Peter Gutmann of Auckland University report, A Cost Analysis of Windows Vista Content Protection.
I want to live in a world that pays authors of amazing ideas, compensating them for their effort, and encouraging them to continue their good work. But I don't believe it is right allowing their complete control over their creations in order to get paid.
If so, the guy who created agriculture would have had the right to keep all mankind from seeding their crops unless paying the creator of the idea whatever he asked for it. Maybe if Guttenberg was alive he could prohibit U.S.A. from printing dollar bills unless he received a fair 10% tax over each bill ...
Some of the very good ideas would also, as a product of the need, soon or early be proposed by other person, and another, and another ...
Many of the good ideas are stolen, or unfairly acquired by the stronger.
I can't believe we have gone so far with our civilization and we are not able to compensate authors but at the cost of taking off people freedom.
Well, I am not writing here to present my final solution on the subject, I am rather asking for readers to think about the problem and start posting here their ideas, for free of course :)
